The Laura Ingalls Wilder Memorial Society is dedicated to the preservation of her legacy. Two of the Ingalls' original homes have been restored and can be visited. Memorial sights are located throughout De Smet, described in Laura's books, including the original Surveyor's House, original homes occupied by the Ingalls', a Museum, Brewster School Replica and a memorial site with original cotton trees planted by the family.
